a welcome home
May 1, 2017
A multitude of people were gathered this night for a common purpose. Not for rioting or protest, but of celebration and honor.
The following happened:
This was not for me.
It was for my dad and about 600 other veterans from the Vietnam War.
It was truly a hero's welcome at the Lincoln Airport. The vets took part in an honor flight that made a round trip to Washington DC.
While experiencing this homecoming event, I realized that this was just a very, very small picture of what it will be like for those who arrive in Heaven.
When my time on earth is finished, I also desire to hear "Welcome Home!"
Obviously, this future expectation affects my words and deeds in the present.
The "gauntlet" of greeters to honor the vets and to welcome them home

and a continuous "Welcome Home!," " Thank you!" and "Thanks for your service!"

"Well done, good and faithful servant!"
