Camp

July 14-17

Camp

Around 20 youth from the orphanage went to the Los Domos campground in Loma Caliente, Michoacán for camp. The theme of the camp was called "Encounters: Responding to His Call."

Camp was a great experience for the kids despite it raining everyday. The kids heard about who Jesus is and how to know Him more. The kids were very attentive to the teaching.

Pastor Enrique Rodriguez, who oversaw the camp, said he hopes that the experience was the start of something that Jesus will be doing in the kids the rest of their lives. The kid’s testimonies reaffirmed that God is working on them.

Everyday the kids spent time studying the Bible in small groups and listening to the Word together .  They also participated in various activities, such as capture the flag, zip line, kayaking and tether ball. In their free time they played lots of soccer.

I (Bryan) helped with the prep work for many of the activities. Also, I provided assistance where needed. I showed the kids that this “old man” could keep up with them in soccer…as long as I took a few minutes to play goalie in order to catch my breath. It was great opportunity to get to know the kids better.
