New shoes
While in Texas, we bought a pair of size 14 football cleats that were on a clearance sale.
One of the boys at Pan de Vida, who wears a size 12 or 13, was in need of new athletic shoes.
His other football shoes were way too small.
The issue about the boy wearing too small shoe sizes was recently brought to my attention after an American pastor heard the problem and did something about it. The pastor, who also has big feet, was visiting Pan de Vida for a few days. During his stay, he met the boy and decided to donate his sandals to him. This act of kindness inspired me to look for shoes while I was in Texas. Clothes and shoes are cheaper in the United States than in Mexico.
The new shoes are a little big on him, but he is still growing.
He was happy to get new shoes that were big enough for his feet.
Now he can play American football and ultimate frisbee without discomfort.
These athletic shoes will help make a positive impact on his life. Sports is a positive outlet for the kids who have experienced trauma.
Also, I (Bryan) have been able to establish a connection with him and other kids at Pan de Vida by playing sports with them.
