Pen Pals

The elementary school age kids at Pan de Vida gratefully received letters from students at Harvest Christian School in Ontario, Canada.

The idea to start this correspondence came from John, one of the volunteers on a Canadian mission teams that came in January. John and I talked about it and we thought it would be a great idea to start a pen pal program.

Upon his return to Canada, John contacted Harvest Christian School about the pen pal proposal.  The school agreed to it and had had some of their students write letters.

They letters were then given to Shelia, the leader of another Canadian missions team  that came in February. The leader of the team delivered the letters to me and then I passed them on to Celene, one of the volunteers at Pan de Vida, to be given out to the kids.

The kids at Pan de Vida were thrilled to get letters. Some of the volunteers at Pan de Vida translated the letters from English into Spanish. Then the kids wrote back to the Canadian students.  The kids got assistance with writing the letters in English.

The responses were then given Shelia for her to take back with her upon her team's return to Canada.
