School update for Sept 14-Oct 11
In every English class, the following was done:
- The songs 10,000 reasons and Agnus Dei were heard in class.
- Jude 24-25, John 12:1-8, Hosea 11:4 were the key verses covered in class each week that helped reinforce the message from the Sunday sermon.
- Went over the 10 Commandments.
Both the 2nd year and 3rd year junior high English classes are learning about the past simple, i.e. ¨I went to school¨. I recently started having them recite a list of irregular verbs every class to be able to commit them to memory.
My 6th grade English class learned about classroom objects, prepositions of location (i.e. under, behind, next to, in front of, etc.) and demonstrative pronouns (i.e. this, that, these and those). We had to do a lot of review since they dont have time outside of class to do homework or study.
My advanced high school students finished their lesson on ordering food at a resaturant and the words would, will, neither...nor, either...or. We had a class party before they went on their break. They cover one subject online for 3 hours a day for 4 weeks at at time and then have a week break. They also have English class on top of the subject they are studying. Next week they will only have online English class for the next 2 months. I will be acting as a tutor during that time, addressing any questions they may have while completing their English studies online.
During my free time at school, I have been working on lesson
plan organization. I am putting the lessons into protector sleeves. The sleeves are
held in binders that were donated from the public school in Chanute, Kansas.
Having the lesson plans in binders makes it easier for the English teachers to access
the lessons they need.
A fewdays ago, the school director and I had a talk with the 3rd year
junior high students. There is a lack of discipline and respect in the class.
There is a still conflict between the 1st year junior student and the rest of
his classmates. I am praying that the talk and some changes made with the class
will improve things.
Brenda continues to tutor 2 girls from the orphanage in math.
