Surgery Update on Alex

First of all!
I thank and praise God for His goodness during this ordeal. Also, thanks to everyone who prayed and wrote to us regarding Alex. We appreciate it so much! It was encouraging to have the support, especially while we are in the middle of Mexico, far away from many of you.

Alex was also encouraged when I told him that many people were rooting for him and uplifting him to God.

Courageous
Alex was wheeled into the operating room without panicing, crying or succumbing to fear. He bravely and calmly faced it head on.

A hot mess
The surgery went well. The doctors removed the appendix and all the toxic fluids and waste buildup in his body. They said it was very bad inside his body.

More dead than alive
After waking up from surgery, a nurse asked him how he felt. In a monotone and manner of fact voice, he said "I feel more dead than alive."
His comment made me laugh. If you know his personality, I'm sure many of you will find that statement funny. The nurse sarcastically said he was being so dramatic.

R and R
Since the surgery, Alex has been sleeping a lot.
He is in a good mood and not complaining. Alex is receiving serum and pain medicine from an IV. He can't drink water or eat food due to the issue with his intestine. In fact, he hasn't eaten or drunk anything since being admitted this past weekend.

This morning,  he went out for an assisted walk in the hallway. He needs to walk due to being in bed all day. Walking also helps with his recovery.

on the move again
A few hours ago, a doctor examined Alex and said that he is doing well with his recovery. No infections nor side effects. She noticed that his intestines are moving again. As far as we know, they stopped moving last Saturday due to the buildup of toxins in his body.

Now that his intestines are moving  again,  he might be able to drink some water tonight. We were happy to hear that. Alex says he is very hungry and thirsty.

great experience
All the doctors and nurses have been very friendly, patient and professional with us. The staff does a good job with cleaniness and ensuring Alex has everything he needs.

Hanging out at the hospital
Also, thank you for your patience in waiting for an update. It's been hectic since the surgery. I have been at the hospital since Alex was admitted. Nurses and doctors regularly check on him. I have been attending to him after they leave the room. I sleep on the couch in Alex's room. Brenda brings me things when she comes for a visit. The hospital only allows 1 visitor per patient at a time in order to limit possible exposure to the Corona virus.

Brenda comes over to see Alex when James has been breastfed and has fallen asleep. Ariadne and Brianna are doing well. My mother-in-law and a friend of the family have been helping us with the kids and chores.

Still need prayer
Please continue to pray for Alex's recovery.
His body is also busy with fighting off germs that were expelled into his system from a swollen intestine.

Also, pray for my family snd I. Brenda and I need strength while dealing with this, especially for Brenda as she is taking care of a needy newborn. Ariadne and Brianna miss their daddy and Alex.

going forward
We don't know yet how much time he needs to be in the hospital. At his current of rate of recovery, it shouldn't be too long.

I will do my best to keep you updated.
