Texas trip update

August 8, 2020

Thanks to everyone who has been thinking of us and praying for us on our trip to Texas to get a new car permit for Mexico.

travel update:

5 days ago Brenda and I drove from Queretaro to McAllen. No problems on the trip except Brianna and James both got car sick driving through the mountains in northern Mexico. James both slept and cried a lot during the trip, but we think he did well overall considering he is only 8-months-old.

Brianna helped entertained James on the long car ride to the border

It only took an hour to cross border when normally it takes 90 minutes or more. I think the time was less due to Covid.

When we arrived Mcallen, Texas that same day, we found out that our hotel reservation disappeared.  However, thanks to God, the employee at the front desk was able to get us another room and at a cheaper rate. We later found out that our initial reservation got mixed up with someone else’s.

We stayed at the motel for 2 nights before we were able to check in at a nearby guesthouse used for missionaries and mission teams. The power at the guesthouse was restored on Tuesday after being knocked out for a couple of days from a storm.

We are enjoying our stay at the guest house. There is a lot of room and we are the only ones occupying the house. We are able to work on things that we needed to do while in Texas.

James has a healthy appetite

New boots for Brianna that we found on clearance.

Alex and Ariadne are doing well. They can’t wait for us to come back. Brianna is eager to play with them again.

We will be heading back our home in Queretaro, Mexico on Tuesday, Lord willing. There are a few more things that we need to do in Texas. We will apply for a new car permit a Mexico customs after crossing the border.

Financial update for trip:

As of August 7, we have received $500 in donations to help with expenses related to getting a new car permit. We only need $394 to reach our goal.

Please pray for us during our stay in Texas, for the return trip and for the funds needed to pay for the costs associated with the trip.

Sincerely,

The Ottosons
