February 2021 update

February 2021

reading Bible stories in English

I was sick with a cold for a few days in February. Kris, a volunteer from Canada, subbed for me. I originally hoped at the beginning of the year that he could help me on a regular basis, but he is needed in other areas at PDV.

Without any notice, I found out one morning upon arriving at school about a change to my teaching schedule. Both my 7th grade and 8th grade English classes on Tuesdays would be joined together. It was a challenge to teach the combined class due to students being at different proficiency levels.

One has to be flexible in Mexico with frequent and unannounced changes.

Tyler returned back to Canada and Becca went back to the United States the first week of February. I appreciated both their help in the classroom. Their assistance helped with the burden of teaching all the kids from kindergarten to junior high. Becca also provided a different perspective to teaching and also gave me some ideas for classroom games.

In addition to teaching, I also work on the schedule for Sunday school teachers at the onsite church. Sunday school teachers take turns teaching the Sunday school class.

I was excited to be able to participate online with the men’s bible study at my home church. It was great to find a way to reconnect with them.

Duane, a volunteer at PDV, helped me with ordering material for an indoor stairs for my home. He said he would build stairs for my house.

The pedal fell off bike. Since it is an old bike, I continuously have problems with it. I haven’t been motivated to take it the bike shop. So, I started walking to school instead.
