Other Summer 2017 highlights
Time
spent getting to know the kids
- · I (Bryan) interacted with the kids at the orphanage by talking with them and playing Frisbee, touch football and soccer with them.
- · Ariadne, Alex and Brianna played with the kids at PDV.
- · Brenda and I both observed and helped where needed in the Sunday school classes and in the youth groups.
Time
spent helping out at the orphanage
- · Brenda helped in the boys’ kitchen.
- · I helped organize books in the school library.
- · We assisted with translation. Brenda translated a VBS presentation by a Canadian group from English into Spanish. Bryan translated some of the kid’s testimony from Spanish into English for a Canadian mission group.
- · I helped schedule guitar classes for a volunteer musician from Canada.
House work
- · We got the doors installed for the bedrooms of Ariadne and Alex as well as for the 2nd bathroom.
- · We had closets made for Alex and Ariadne.
Getting ready for the new school year
- · Brenda and I got ready to teach at the on-site school at the orphanage.
- I completed an online TEFL course to better equip me to teach English as a foreign language.
- · Brenda and I both attended a week long teacher orientation.

Brief
return
- I made a brief visit back to Nebraska to take care of some things. On the way back, I attended a Spanish speaking church service in McAllen, Texas. During the time in Nebraska, I was blessed with my time with friends and family members. I also spoke at our home church, Lincoln Christian Fellowship about the work at the orphanage.
