Traveling to Texas today
Monday,
August 3, 2020
Today, Brenda, James, Brianna and I are traveling to
Mcallen, Texas.
It will take us 12 hours to get there from our home
in Mexico.
We have to
leave Mexico, because our car permit expires tomorrow.
Brianna and James are too young to stay home without
their parents. Alex and Ariadne will stay at home in Mexico and be cared for by
their grandmother.
We have to be out of the country for at least 3 days
in order to apply for a new car permit.
While in Texas, we are planning to stay in a hotel for
now. We were planning to stay in a guesthouse for mission workers. However, the power recently went out at this
place due to a storm. It is unknown at this time when the electricity will be
restored.
Please pray for our trip. The following are what we
need prayer for:
- Protection on the roads
- Provision for our needs
- Crossing the border
- Being granted a new car permit
- Grace for 8-month-old James on a long car trip both to and from the border.
Also, we could use some financial help with covering
the expenses associated with the obtaining a new car permit. The total costs
will be at least $894 in
U.S. dollars. Below is a breakdown of
the costs for traveling to and from the border:
- Car permit =$51
- Gasoline = $300
- Toll roads in Mexico = $23
- Food = $150.
- Lodging = around $370
Our monthly support doesn’t cover the costs
associated with getting a new car permit. Since we can’t afford to buy a
Mexican registered car at this time, we must continue to use our car from the
United States. We can only have our car
in Mexico for 6 months at a time.
Please consider making a special gift to our
ministry to offset the expenses. We would appreciate whatever amount you can
give.
